The federal government pays out millions in WIOA funds - sending employees to private businesses to pad their bottom line and that’s an “investment”. But Head Start programs are “welfare”. Gtfoh

The framing of some programs( SNAP, WIC, Section 8, Medicaid) as “assistance” while everything else is just part of the benefits of living in a society where we pay taxes to a centralized government pisses me off.

you pay for WIC and you’ve never used it. Millions of people have never been on a plane and still pay for all the federal government functions at an airport that keep you safe whenever you take a flight. We live in a society. Everything isn’t for you. Get over it.

SNAP is just as much a service as the public library. Nobody judges me for not buying my own books, or paying for my kids to do a Saturday activity. But people who would starve without food assistance get hate. Make it make sense.

Someone can get laid off and need SNAP after working for 30 years straight and Republicans say they’re leeches who refuse to work 🙃.

one of the (many) benefits of wealth is that they have space. They don’t have to operate at 100% for their entire lives. They can grieve, rest, think, innovate etc. without having the constant pressure of earning.
