If he becomes president, the mainstream media will be shocked when he continues to talk this way. "We thought he wouldn't be like Trump and would try to be president of all the people. We couldn't possibly have foreseen that he'd be a partisan attack dog!"

I lived through this. There wasn't a dime's worth of difference between Bush/McCain/Romney and Helmes/Thurmond/Limbaugh/Falwell.

If Alito retires, there's a nonzero chance that Trump will blow off the Federalist Society and appoint someone like Todd Blanche as Alito's replacement, because loyalty to himself is Trump's sole criterion for the appointment. Trump would probably expect Blanche to continue as attorney general.
