My 3rd great grandfather, John Harper, fought in the Civil War with the 28th Regiment of U.S. Colored Troops (nps.gov/civilwar/sea...). He discharged from duty on Nov. 8, 1865, in Corpus Christie, Texas. Why? “Services no longer required.” War. Was. Over. Happy Juneteenth!

The SCOTUS ruling on mail-in voting was a win for the right to vote. But Joe Lombardo is still folding to Donald Trump and trying to rip that away from Nevadans. As governor, I will always protect our democracy and defend every Nevadan’s right to vote.

Nevadans know the difference between a fighter and a folder. Joe Lombardo has always folded to Trump at your expense. What we need is a governor who will fight for Nevada and put working families first — I am that fighter.

More than three decades ago, Nevadans voted by a 27-point margin to enshrine a woman’s right to choose in state law. For nearly 40 years, that decision has served largely as a bulwark, protecting us from the fight against choice at the national level.
