Five years ago, we lost Congressman John Lewis. But we never lost the movement he built. He showed us that progress isn’t promised. It’s won - through organizing, voting, marching, and fighting for what’s right. Our job now is to keep going. To never back down. And to stay in #GoodTrouble.
My 3rd great grandfather, John Harper, fought in the Civil War with the 28th Regiment of U.S. Colored Troops (nps.gov/civilwar/sea...). He discharged from duty on Nov. 8, 1865, in Corpus Christie, Texas. Why? “Services no longer required.” War. Was. Over. Happy Juneteenth!
