Just came through my desk: Per Los Angeles District Attorney, an armed off-duty U.S. Border Patrol Officer was charged with assaulting a Long Beach police officer and resisting arrest in the Shoreline Village parking lot in the city of Long Beach on July 7.

Greetings! I’m at the Huntington Park Library in Los Angeles, where a group of federal police officers that received flat tires during a confrontation with the community have parked. They are doing road repairs currently. Activists are beginning to arrive quickly from the community.

Greetings! I’m here at Los Angeles Metropolitan Detention Center to cover a protest against ICE. A guy is supergluing a dildo to the protective fence outside the facility.

Went to a punk benefit for immigrant rights group CHIRLA at the Paramount in Boyle Heights. Story TK but gotta tell you, I lived in that neighborhood during the height of the federal raids in LA and that neighborhood got hit *HARD* and to see joy there really warmed my heart.

The line for the first LAPD Commission meeting since the No Kings 3 protest is very long. There’s also about 30 people on the street for a press conference regarding a lawsuit alleging LAPD protest misconduct. The meeting begins in 30 minutes.

LAPD’s latest press release sent via text message is a little concerning:

Los Angeles, CA - I’ve seen 10 LAPD officers respond to this minor traffic collision with no injuries. A squad car is one vehicle involved.

A bit of rain around Koreatown, and I’m playing with lights and shadows. Not news today. Challenging myself to improve as a photographer every single day. I’m not crazy proud of these photos. They’re a little dark. The ISO was too high. There was some leftover teargas in the viewfinder.
