One thing I’ve noticed about paying attention to the World Cup is the amount of really racist things I see people saying about the teams. Of course we have racism here in the US, but the casualness with which deeply racist things are said among the soccer fandom is quite something.
It can be for specific things—not everything. Wasn’t there some commencement ceremony where they switched to AI to call out the names and it screwed it up. What is wrong with having Professors call out the names of students? It is exactly RIGHT. Why was it so urgent to use AI for that?
