“Secret police” are your words, not mine. Seems like you’ve been giving them a lot of thought. Unlike NYPD, your agents don’t identify themselves & wear masks that cover their faces. Now they ignore judges’ rulings, too. What law enforcement agents are supposed to uphold … is the rule of law.

Right in our backyard is a compelling red-to-blue race. NY-11 is the only district in NYC with a MAGA congressmember who supports Trump’s tariffs, wars, and violent immigration policies — while shielding the criminals in the Epstein files, the administration, and their corporate cronies.

In 2018, my friend Ady Barkan — the bravest person I’ve ever known — was traveling across the U.S. Despite his rapidly advancing ALS, he was fighting so fiercely for healthcare for every American. On that trip, he introduced me to @abdulelsayed.bsky.social, who was running for governor of Michigan.

In a twisted authoritarian spectacle, federal agents raided Ilhan Omar's home this morning. Trump has made no secret of his disdain for the Congresswoman – frequently using racist, tyrannical drivel to express an unhinged desire to expel her from the country.

No reasonable law enforcement agency would ever fire a hail of bullets into a car that presents no safety threat … with a five-year-old in the backseat. We need an independent investigation. We need Oscar to be released from custody immediately. And we need ICE to get the hell out of our city.

Yesterday afternoon, ICE agents — who did not present a warrant, and who appear to have been disguised as construction workers — fired 7 shots into a car with a 5-year-old child, hitting Oscar Belgal in the neck.

We’re sick of ICE terrorizing our neighbors. Sick of it. Like the brave people of Minneapolis, we have zero tolerance for federal agents lawlessly unleashing violence on our streets.

Tonight we read the heartrending words of those who lost Israeli loved ones on Oct 7th — and Palestinian loved ones in the three years since. We said kaddish for all of them. We refused to compromise on anyone’s humanity. No amount of shouting stopped us. May their memory be for a blessing.
