Just throwing this out there: Along with a ban on gerrymandering and expansion of the Supreme Court, another thing that could vastly improve U.S. politics would be doubling the size of the Senate, tripling the number of House members and paying them all twice as much.

Certain Republicans are about learn that the Nazis consolidated power by purging their *own* party of undesirable groups and individuals before they moved on to Jews, LGBTQ, public intellectuals, etc.

The whole "can they win" vs. "are they good and qualified" shift in politics is very similar to the contemporary U.S. commerce shift from supply and demand to wealth extraction. No one cares if candidates, products or services are good anymore. Only whether they can win and/or generate revenue.
