I track campaign finance in Texas, connecting the “what” to the “why” with my wife, @mentack.bsky.social Started http://seeitnameitfightit.com. Lots of talk about numbers, campaign finance, a spotlight on Christian nationalism, and some punk rock.

The Texas House Committee on Redistricting held a session in Arlington tonight. I had the opportunity to give public comment, so I stepped to the mic. Authoritarianism doesn’t come in with trumpets. It creeps in and thrives on our hesitation to speak out. We say NO MORE. #txlege #redistricting

At the 5/12 Tarrant County Commissioners Court, Tim O’Hare and Manny Ramirez abruptly ended the meeting to stop Commissioner Simmons from “rolling the tape” from the 10/14/2025 meeting. I went to the 10/14/25 meeting and pulled the relevant parts. This is Part 1 of “The Tape”.

“Do Not Roll The Tape, Under Any Scenario” is how Tarrant County Commissioners Court ended suddenly yesterday (5/12/26). Commissioner Simmons wanted to talk about things. Commissioner Ramirez DID NOT. Now I definitely want to see the tape. How about you? #wakeup #tarrantcounty #seeitnameitfightit

I don’t think Chairman Buckley understood he was asking questions of the indomitable Alé Checka, as she zipped around him at every point he was trying to make. This is Part 3 of our friend and 18 year FWISD teacher Alé Checka giving comments to the Texas House Education Committee on 5/11/26.

The awesome Nydia Cárdenas (running for Tarrant County Commissioner Precinct 4) got to speak during candidate introductions at the Tarrant County Democratic Woman's Club monthly meeting today. As always, she connected with the room and gave her why she’s running and where she has hope.

Six months to the November election. Two months from the March Primaries. I wrote pieces after the Primary talking about the historical connection between the two. Let’s make it real & dive into where real races could land based on those ratios. This is the Canary open.substack.com/pub/christac...

We’ve talked about Fort Worth being a blue city and the 2026 Primaries prove it. And it should leave any City Council member who doesn’t want to move in a more progressive direction very concerned about holding their seat in May 2027. And yeah, the concern should be there for the Mayor too.

Whether it is recognizing Monks that most everyone thinks are awesome, advocating for civil rights orgs to be able to use space, or pushing for information on jail deaths and compassionate treatment, Alisa Simmons is there for Tarrant County. We have to vote her into the middle seat in November
