I’m not the first person to make this observation, but this being the biggest story in the world at present really speaks to how much Twitter still serves as a universal assignments editor for English-language journalists.

A strong statement from Sen. Thom Tillis.

Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) via Twitter:
https://x.com/Vu_Reports/status/1966164297563672695

Tillis has some sharp words for conservative pundits that called for “war” following Charlie Kirk’s death:

“What I was really disgusted by yesterday is a couple of talking heads that sees this as an opportunity to say we're at war so that they could get some of our conservative followers lathered up over this. It seems like a cheap, disgusting, awful way to pretend like you're a leader of a conservative movement. And there were two in particular that I found particularly disgusting.”

This story is from September 2017, I’m not sure why it’s getting a surge of Bluesky attention now. I’m not sure why James Woods protected his tweets (I don’t use that website) but he was quoted by Providence Journal bashing Graham Platner as recently as this week. www.teenvogue.com/story/amber-...

So, the term “advocatus diaboli” refers to a Catholic legal practice wherein someone would test the canonical qualifications of a venerable servant of god by arguing from the perspective of actual Satan. In this context, well that’s just funny.

How racist is Marsha Blackburn’s anti-Chinese ad? Well for starters, that’s Japanese Kikkoman soy sauce. The there’s the hero cut to the beckoning cat statue as the final image. That’s also Japanese. Oh, and of course we associate fortune cookies with Chinese food but those are also Japanese.
