With the trailers for both #WalkingWithDinosaurs and #JurassicWorld Rebirth apparently showing swimming Spinosaurus, I thought it might be time to go over why I think these animals were not good swimmers. After all, it's something I've written a fair bit about (with @arctomet.bsky.social) 1/many

This afternoon's job is proofing Spinosaur Tales. It should be out in November in the UK, and North America in Feb 2026. Chock full of illustrations by @markwitton.bsky.social and I even graciously allowed him to write some of the text too.

I'm starting up a new extra-curricular program at QMUL focusing on communication skills. It's open to all Science and Engineering students, and it's all very informal and drop-in. But if you are a fellow academic, please share the news with your classes and if you are student, do come along.

I assume there's a new Chuck Tingle book coming about two burly fire fighters rescuing a President and then I don't want to know what the rest of the title would be.

Is it submission season again? I've had requeuest to review 3 papers in the last 12 hours.

I have two papers of despair at the moment. No matter what we do with rewrites and edits and resubmissions they just get vaguely positive comments about the central idea and data with then suggestions to completely rewrite them. Worse, ususually one very positive and one very nagative review.

Close to breaking the 100 review mark on Amazon for Spinosaur Tales with @markwitton.bsky.social. The only 2 reviews of 1 star are complain the book was damaged so I'm claiming 100% positive reviews. If you have read it, please give it a rating and review*, it really helps! *Unless you hated it.
