Comms maven. I live in Brooklyn and am passionate about improving education, NYC, and connecting with people working to make my city and our country more livable for all. Obligatory: opinions mine.

I hear rumors that there are a bunch of new folks joining. If any of you are #education nerds, here's my starterpack of education reporters and wonks. #edusky go.bsky.app/EUtjscv

It's truly hard to believe that it's been 24 years. As always on this day, from @colsonwhitehead.com: www.nytimes.com/2001/11/11/m...

Excerpt from "The Way We Live Now by Colson Whitehead

"We can never make proper goodbyes. It was your last ride in a Checker cab, and you had no warning. It was the last time you were going to have Lake Tung Ting shrimp in that entirely suspect Chinese restaurant, and you had no idea. If you had known, perhaps you would have stepped behind the counter and shaken everyone's hand, pulled out the disposable camera and issued posing instructions. But you had no idea. There are unheralded tipping points, a certain number of times that we will unlock the front door of an apartment. At some point you were closer to the last time than you were to the first time, and you didn't even know it. You didn't know that each time you passed the threshold you were saying goodbye."

Ok - I am really going to need to carve out decompression time in the coming months so hmu with your recommendations for cozy mystery novels, bingeable sit-coms, European procedurals, and other worthy distractions. Please and thank you!

Apropos of nothing, I was just remembering the misery of having to do square dancing every year in elementary and middle school. Who decided that was essential knowledge and when did it stop being required?

Truly I am here for all of @governor.ny.gov’s impossibly quaint scandals.

I know this storm is bad because the soccer fanatics have not yet begun shoveling out their field.

I just ran some errands and it’s drizzling and quite mild out there. I know temps are set to drop but it’s hard to feel like a blizzard is imminent. #nyc

I work in comms, so I still have to check Twitter occasionally for professional reasons. Thank you to whichever @governor.ny.gov staffer was responsible for this delightful and utterly wholesome political screw-up. Simpler times...

NY Governor Kathy Hochul posted and deleted a Tweet in which she made the unforgivable error of saying she spent the day "in" Long Island instead of "on" Long Island.

Amazing. I researched and scripted a walking tour of Black history in Lower Manhattan 20 years ago and now want to go back in time and add a location.

Four hours later there are still quite a few of them out there re-shoveling.

Whenever it snows, a group of dudes almost immediately shovels out a soccer field in the park across from my apartment and there are like 30 of them out there right now. They are dedicated! (I unfortunately cannot get a decent photo due to my window screen.)

I really struggle with the fact that my daughter’s friend from high school is now some big power player. And he wasn’t even in her class, he’s two years younger. #nyc
