Such an odd thing to read in the newspaper www.nytimes.com/2025/09/03/u...

Pentagon officials were still working Wednesday on what legal authority they would tell the public was used to back up the extraordinary strike in international waters.

It's kind of funny that the broad online left has still not
acknowledged that a thing called cancel culture ever existed,
but is willing to now acknowledge that yeah, it was crazy and
we should move on.
(Not complaining, I'll take it, but it's funny.)

Genuine question... can we name one person who the left
actually canceled unfairly? I can think of some examples that
I could argue both sides of it, but obvious cases of overreach
aren't immediately coming to mind.

Haverford codifies antisemitism into campus policy, stipulating that fascism and genocide are intrinsic to Jewish nature.

Tweet thread from Barak Mendelsohn, self-described "College Professor. Author of "Jihadism Constrained" "The Al-Qaeda Franchise" and "Combating Jihadism". Proud Zionist, fighting antisemitism at Haverford College"

More details about the Haverford College antisemitism settlement:
1. Zionism is treated as an element of Jewish identity, not merely a political position. Total prohibition on discriminating against Zionists and Israelis, not just prohibition the traditional Jew hatred; 1/5

Actually their fear is that a leftist will win. www.nytimes.com/2026/08/06/u...

“We are preparing for the next war that is coming,” said Jonathan Cowan, the president of Third Way, a leading centrist Democratic group, revealing to The New York Times a new $15 million effort between now and 2028 to discredit democratic socialism.
Their fear: Dr. El-Sayed was paving a path for a progressive to seize the party’s presidential nomination in 2028 — _and then go on to lose the general election_.

4k's with unique Aspect ratios?
Question
I'm not any sort of expert on aspect ratios so forgive me if this question doesn't even make sense, are there any
4k blu rays that have interesting/unique aspect ratios and what makes them unique? Looking forward to any
recommendations!

Galaxy Quest. Most of the movie is standard letterboxed (2.39:1 I think) but the first 20-25min are in 4:3
(old tv aspect ratio). What makes it unique is the 4:3 it put within the existing letterboxed area so you get
what looks like a floating image with black space on all sides. The first time I watched it I thought there
was something wrong with the disc lol.

Slightly incorrect, Galaxy Quest is 4:3 during the show open part at the very beginning, then in a
weird window box ratio (back bars on all four sides) that's not 4:3 (too wide to be 4:3) or 2.39:1 and
then opens wide into proper scope 2.39:1 ratio when the teleporter opens up to reveal space and
send Peter home and the remainder of the movie is in 2.39:1. These ratios choices and changes are
reportedly how the movie was shown in its original theatrical release.

It goes from 1.33:1 for the TV show to 1.85:1 for the opening sequences to 2.39:1. Previous
widescreen home video presentations just stuck with 2.39:1 for the 1.85:1 scenes.

It is absolutely not 1.85:1 for that section on 4K. that ratio mostly fills the screen besides
tiny bars at the top and bottom (for example the whole movie of Nightmare Alley [2021]), it
doesn't make a very distinct window box look like here with black bars on all 4 sides like
this release.

The ratio is still 1.85 even if it doesn't fill most of the screen. They kept the pillar
boxes in the 1.85 scenes so that the vista becomes wider when it finally gets to 2.39,
like opening the curtains in a movie theatre.

1.85 wouldn't fill the screen, there would be tiny black bars.

Jonathan Greenblatt

The hypocrisy of wishing Jews a peaceful Tisha B'Av while
relentlessly attacking the Jewish state is hard to miss. It is yet
another example of Mayor Madani gaslighting the Jewish
community.
Tisha B'Av isn't just about mourning the destruction of the
First and Second Temples in Jerusalem. It's a reminder of
what Jewish statelessness has meant throughout history:
exile, persecution and slaughter.
It is the day the Jews were expelled from England in 1290,
from Spain in 1492, the day the Nazis began the Great
Deportation from the Warsaw Ghetto - sending more than
265,000 Jews to their deaths at the Treblinka extermination
camp over the course of two months. These and so many
other calamities.
Extending holiday wishes while opposing the Jewish people's
sovereignty in their ancestral homeland misses the historical
lesson that lies at the heart of Tish B'Av.
Mayor Zohran Kwame Mamdani ©

Wishing a peaceful Tisha B'Av to Jewish New Yorkers
across the five boroughs.
From sundown tonight until tomorrow, mourners will
pause and reflect on the history and resiliency of the
Jewish people.
May all observing have a safe and meaningful fast.

American Jewish organizations are waging war against one of the most popular public figures in the country, on behalf of a blood-drenched serial killer. I wonder how that will work out.

"This isn't just political theater. It's a dangerous
dereliction of duty," Anti-Defamation League CEO
Jonathan Greenblatt wrote on X, noting the spike in
hate crimes targeting Jewish New Yorkers since Oct. 7.
"He remains relentlessly obsessed with the world's
only Jewish state - even as Jewish New Yorkers face
record levels of antisemitism and the city confronts
urgent problems that demand his attention:
Greenblatt further argued the video was the product of
an "antisemitic worldview" and "the play-acting
instincts of a perpetual student activist."
The UJA-Federation of New York said in a statement,
"New Yorkers elected a mayor to lead this city - not to
make Israel the centerpiece of your political
grandstanding. At a time of rising antisemitism,
repeatedly singling out and vilifying the world's only
Jewish state for perceived political benefit is
repugnant, puts Jews at greater risk - and leaves
many Jewish New Yorkers feeling targeted and
unwelcome in the city we call home."

"Shame on you," the post concluded.
Other groups including the Simon Wiesenthal Center,
Orthodox Union and American Jewish Committee
contrasted the mayor's pledges early in his
administration to represent New Yorkers of all faiths
and nationalities with his use of official city platforms
to exclusively pillory Israel - with the OU calling it a
"betrayal of his oath of office and his own commitment
to protect all New Yorkers" and the AJC demanding he
"stop putting a target on the back of the Jewish
community."
July 22, 2026 - URJ President Rabbi Rick Jacobs
issued the following statement in response to Mayor
Zohran Mamdani's recent comments regarding Israel
and Prime Minister Netanyahu.
"Mayor Mamdani's apparent obsession with attacking
Israel and Prime Minister Netanyahu places Jewish
New Yorkers further at risk from those who are
emboldened by his demonizing rhetoric. We urge
Mayor Madani to stop his performative fixation and
instead, use his influence not to sow division but to
uplift, heal, and advance a vision of a peaceful future
for all."

You are not at all concerned that AIPAC is spending more than 40 millions to smear Abdul El-Sayed and Haley Stevens is their preferred candidate who has no objection to Israel's genocide and occupation of Palestinians? Her position is wildly out of synch with a majority of Dems...
Neera Tanden🌻
@neeratanden
I honestly believe that an organization like AIPAC would spend $50 million to to defeat any candidate campaigning with Hassan Piker after the truly outrageous and disgusting things he has has said about Jews. I am definitely against superpac money. But let’s get real.
