I just received the first copy of Copaganda! It will be sold anywhere books are sold. I try to explain the role of the media, the police, and academia in how we got to this authoritarian moment.

THREAD: The assassinations in Minnesota highlight a dirty secret hardly ever mentioned in the news: U.S. has 1.1 million private police officers. There is an unprecedented footprint of privately organized violence that is doing all sorts of things most people have no idea about.

news story about how the MN shooter and wife operate a private armed security company.

Today’s Executive Order creating a *nationwide* military “quick reaction force” and setting up an online portal to permit random fascist vigilantes to join soldiers is one of the scariest things I’ve seen in U.S. politics in my adult life. Why is it not getting more attention?

The D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force established in Executive Order 14252 of March 27, 2025 (Making the District of Columbia Safe and Beautiful), shall establish an online portal for Americans with law enforcement or other relevant backgrounds and experience to apply to join Federal law enforcement entities to support the policy goals described in Executive Order 14333. Each law enforcement agency that is a member of the D.C. Safe and Beautiful Task Force, as well as other relevant components of the Department of Justice as the Attorney General determines, shall further, subject to the availability of appropriations and applicable law, immediately create and begin training, manning, hiring, and equipping a specialized unit that is dedicated to ensuring public safety and order in the Nation’s capital that can be deployed whenever the circumstances necessitate, and that could be deployed, subject to applicable law, in other cities where public safety and order has been lost.
(
(ii) The Secretary of Defense shall immediately begin ensuring that each State’s Army National Guard and Air National Guard are resourced, trained, organized, and available to assist Federal, State, and local law enforcement in quelling civil disturbances and ensuring the public safety and order whenever the circumstances necessitate, as appropriate under law. In coordination with the respective adjutants general, the Secretary of Defense shall designate an appropriate number of each State’s trained National Guard members to be reasonably available for rapid mobilization for such purposes. In addition, the Secretary of Defense shall ensure the availability of a standing National Guard quick reaction force that shall be resourced, trained, and available for rapid nationwide deployment.

THREAD. A lot of attention is rightly going to Medicaid cuts and other very bad things in Trump's bill passed by the House, but there's something else that isn't getting enough attention, that is very difficult to find in any news coverage, but that will fundamentally alter life for all of us.

The President of the United States just said “A whole civilization will die tonight.” Any politician or person within the chain of command who does not speak up and do everything in their power to stop this will be complicit in the gravest crime against humanity, and there’s no return from that.

THREAD. An important report was just released, putting another nail in the coffin of Obama-era "police reform" copaganda. After a study of 13 years of "police reform" in Puerto Rico, police violence *got worse.* The "reform" itself has a budget of $20 million per year.

A common mistake is that the most nefarious propaganda must look like Fox News. In fact, huge resources are put into propaganda like the post below—which uses baseless assertions and innuendo couched as reasonable progressive-feeling analysis—to push uncritical consumers of info to the right.

Ok after some reflection and talking to people (including locals) that are smarter than me, points 3 and 4 seem way too cynical/galaxy brained. There are local factors at play, and it’s probably not some strategic 4D chess to triangulate a middle path to the nomination between El-Sayed and Stevens.

I had completely forgotten that the West Bloomfield Temple Israel attack — where 140 preschoolers could have been blown up — was two weeks ago.

And that for many for whom that is still raw — even in a mostly very progressive Jewish community like that — Piker’s presence nearby (both are within about an hour drive) would be raising the temperature, not lowering it.

I think the difference in encouraging people to go on a guest on Rogan/Piker type streams — who have said controversial things in the past — and actively campaigning with them is an important distinction. Some may infer the latter as an endorsement of their views.

Which, no matter what you think of Hasan, you have to admit that some of what he has said could be hurtful to some Jews at a time when many are already deeply concerned for the safety of them and their children.

For those who think McMorrow is bought and paid for by AIPAC, I would like to remind them that they are expressly backing Stevens in this race, and that McMorrow has stressed that she has not and will not take money from AIPAC.

Anyway, I’m willing to bet it’s not a strategic move, it’s a line in the sand for her.

If you disagree with what she said, that’s fine. Your voice will be louder than those that appreciate what’s she’s doing because that’s what algorithms do — promote conflict.

Important to remember that Twitter is not real life.

I like Abdul, and totally get why people are voting for him. But let’s not jump to the worst conclusions about other candidates just because tensions are high.

Some shameful moments from Seattle Mayor here that reflect either dishonesty or stunning lack of familiarity with surveillance. And a cameo from the dangerous NYU Policing Project whose job is to sell horrible stuff to low-information libs. Basically all happening exactly as I said in my book.

THREAD. The sanctions on various ICC judges and UN officials is one of the gravest possible threats to any conception of the rule of law and protecting humanity from unrestrained extermination of anyone without power to resist. But there is a completely ignored component in U.S. media.

I’ve been studying the punishment bureaucracy and suing judges, prosecutors, and police across the U.S. for more than 15 years. One defining feature of our legal system is that there is rarely any accountability for massive corruption and criminality by those with power.

Phoenix police won’t discipline any officers in massive scandal of testing fake gangs and charging protestors falsely as members in 2020.

There has been an alarming development in our legal system. Judges are starting to contract with a private corporation started by an ex-Palantir employee--whose bio says he is also a former speechwriter for Israel's UN ambassador--to have **secretive proprietary AI help decide cases for them.**

Judges in one of the nation’s largest court systems have started using artificial intelligence, testing a tool that can rapidly distill hundreds of pages of legal motions and use samples of a jurist’s writing style to help reach conclusions and even draft tentative rulings.

THREAD. I have to say that I am very disappointed with John Oliver. I finally watched his segment on police body cameras, and it was abysmal. Missed the whole point, and in the process bought into some of the worst copaganda about them.
