the verdict is in- gas prices are likely to return to climbing with Trump's new Strait block- with price cycling states likely to hike gas prices very soon- as early as tomorrow- for many areas as oil prices surge past $100/bbl again. RBOB pointing to big surge in wholesale tmrw

one can't think we'd actually block the Strait completely & cause even more a mess/backlog, or if once the Navy gains a level of control that perhaps he'll look to allies for help in taking it over- but the rhetoric is back, markets hate uncertainty, just what Trump gave more of

with the U.S. not coming to agreement or terms with Iran, it is likely that the Strait will remain under their control and that oil prices and thus gasoline, diesel and jet fuel prices keep rising due to the likely continued closure of the Strait.

the national average price of gasoline may see its first weekly decline since early February as oil markets saw boosted optimism over a ceasefire cooled oil markets and is pushing gasoline prices lower, a trend that may reverse, subject to the outcome of US/Iran talks

Finally some GOOD news? The national average price of gasoline is down 4c/gal so far today- it's not a ton, but it's a start. declines should continue into the weekend- but what happens starting Monday will be heavily influenced by US/Iran talks so stay tuned!

BREAKING: BLS gasoline index surged 21.2% in March- the largest monthly jump since 1967- when this dataset was first published. BLS relies in part on GasBuddy data, and this matches exactly what we’ve been tracking.

diesel prices are starting to inch back down after Wednesday's big market dip due to the ceasefire- which for now prevented/stopped new record high nationally. enjoy small drops over the weekend, but prepare for the outcome of talks on whether dips stick or hikes return.

Just 7 states have seen gas prices dip over the last week: FL, CO, WV, VA, NJ, NC, AZ. Most of these are price cycling markets- so that sets up potential cycles/hikes in these areas for next week.
