So MSNBC reportedly fired Matthew Dowd tonight just hours after Jesse Watters called for his "immediate" termination over his Charlie Kirk shooting comments. Meanwhile, Watters said he's going to "avenge" Kirk's death because "they are at war with us" -- and he'll face no repercussions from Fox.

CNN's Dana Bash: Can I just ask you point-blank, do you not call yourself a Zionist because it is a term that many people on the hard left have started to use as a slur against Jews? Brad Lander: I mean, a liberal Zionist is a Zionist. I just want to make clear I‘m not a Zionist like Ben-Gvir...

This feels exactly like a Free Press editorial -- from the snide swipes at the "woke" left to the lecturing tone towards Democrats to the bad-faith observations and comparisons.

These are the people who truly have their finger on the pulse of what average working-class Americans want to read and watch.

Hello, and welcome back. Reporting to you from Sun Valley, where I am diving under shrubs to avoid Dylan Byers but then finding him there in the shrubs saying, “Hi, it’s Dylan Byers, got a minute?” Honestly, I love it here. When we first came several years ago, Bar was like, “Can you believe our lives led us here?” and all I could say was, actually, yeah. As the smartest person I know (me, not Bar), this is exactly how I expected things to unfold for me. The market is efficient. I was made for Sun Valley.

Drop Site News is now apologizing for their tweets about Ryan Grim's Breaking Points segment about the Graham Platner rape story, noting that they've deleted the posts because it "was not the intention" to "justify the alleged assault" of Jenny Racicot.

Yesterday our post on Politico’s reporting on the sexual assault allegations against Graham Platner was intended to summarize reporting Ryan Grim discussed on Breaking Points regarding details Politico omitted from its story. The language of our post left the impression that text messages by Platner's accuser Jenny Racicot are relevant to whether she was raped or in any way justify the alleged assault she described. That was not the intention and is not the position of Drop Site or Ryan. We genuinely value the feedback and criticism we have received from many readers and have deleted the post.

According to data provided to me from Media Matters, John Fetterman has made 44 appearances on Fox's weekday programming since October -- including 16 on the primetime show hosted by Hannity, Trump's shadow chief of staff who obsessively tried to defeat Fetterman in 2022. zeteo.com/p/fox-fetter...

In tonight's Ragebait, I confirmed Breaker's scoop about Bari Weiss continuing to meddle with '60 Minutes' by reassigning a story to new hire Trevor Phillips. Only problem for Phillips is none of the producers want to work with him due to his long history of Islamophobia. zeteo.com/p/fox-fetter...

With ‘60 Minutes’ new (and beleaguered) executive producer Nick Bilton seeking to bring the temperature down after his ignominious start following “Black Thursday,” it appears that CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss is already back to her meddling ways, according to our friend Lachlan Cartwright at Breaker.

Though Bilton has vowed to staffers that the show will maintain “journalistic independence,” Weiss recently stepped in and reassigned a story about far-right and scandal-plagued Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.

That story, which had been pitched by senior foreign correspondent Holly Williams and greenlit in May, has now been assigned to Trevor Phillips – the veteran British presenter with a long history of anti-Muslim remarks, whom Weiss recently poached from Sky News.

“Almost all of ‘60 Minutes’ experienced staff producers are refusing to work on the piece owing to his well-known history of Islamophobia, according to the people familiar with the situation,” Cartwright reported.
A network source confirmed to me that it’s “definitely” true that Phillips is having difficulty finding any ‘60 Minutes’ staff to collaborate with him due to his past anti-Muslim rhetoric. Additionally, the source noted, “he isn’t a reporter and no one wants to do all that heavy lifting.” Another CBS reporter told me that “it’s absolutely absurd that he’s even being allowed to go near” the show.

Meanwhile, according to Cartwright, Phillips isn’t the only recent Weiss hire who may get a ‘60 Minutes’ story. Right-wing commentator Douglas Murray – who just joined Weiss’s pro-Israel, anti-woke site The Free Press – has been mentioned by the CBS chief as a possible contributor to the iconic newsmagazine.

A representative for CBS News did not respond to a request for comment.
