Any FBI agent asked to spend any time at all on the Texas quorum break had better be able to articulate the specific statute enumerating the specific federal crime they’re investigating. And any reporter giving any credibility to alleged FBI efforts had better be asking the same.

I honestly don’t think the national Rs pushing Texas understand how much fire they’re playing with. If they tick off IL enough, and CA voters enough to change CA law, that’s every single member of the Republican delegation gone. All twelve. If there are no rules, there are no rules.

Pro-tip: if you really, really like the status quo and don’t want the left to vote in 2026, the best way to make that happen is to spend the next year endlessly repeating your inner screaming panic that the midterms are all going to be rigged.

Thankfully, this is the one and only example of bureaucratic paperwork at odds with how people are perceived in the world, and therefore the one and only example of how ridiculous it is to rely on a birth certificate when deciding how to treat someone years later.
