Online right-wing rhetoric began shifting last night from saying the left-wing must be destroyed because someone on the left supposedly killed Charlie Kirk to saying the left-wing must be destroyed because there were people on the left who celebrated his death. In case anyone was wondering.

It’s important to understand the extent of the digital bloodlust on X. They’re scraping data from social media sites—including Bsky—to create a searchable database targeting people for perceived thoughtcrimes related to CK. It has 40k names so far, and they’re sharing it with the federal government.

It’s a good thing some of the shit happening is funny. The awfulness and stupidity can be quite overwhelming.

Trump will claim this is false while simultaneously saying the journalists who reported it should be jailed—and it’s a four by-line story including heavy-hitters like Dan Lamothe and John Hudson.

When I think of “Woke 1,” I don’t think of the social movements of that period. I think of the excessive policing of self-expression on old Twitter. For me, that ended when Ana Mardoll—one of its prolific and prominent enforcers—was revealed to be a nepo-baby employee of a major defense contractor.

He hasn’t even been in office two years.

There is a lot less discourse and chat on here than there used to be, and I’m not sure if it all got siphoned off into group chats or if most people are in a state of thinking “What even is there left to say anymore? Things are bad.”
