Man, I really need to find my Tariffs Not Only Impose Immense Economic Costs but Also Fail to Achieve Their Primary Policy Aims and Foster Political Dysfunction Along the Way t-shirt.

I’m losing my mind on tariffs. We spent 90 years systematically dismantling protectionism (GATT, WTO, NAFTA) and a mad king exercising *extremely* dubious delegated authority just set us back a century by fiat.

I'm just so sad for this country.

I hate that this is correct.

And, of course, it comes just as we elevate an insane, despotic president. (I think this was largely coincidental) You'd hope the proponents would have a modicum of self awareness and restraint to maybe slow things down for a minute. But no. Full destruction. Bring on authoritarianism!

Summary for non-lawyers: this week is the capstone of a project to undue EVERY important institution, norm, freedom, and right that we have been relying on (and taking for granted) for the last 80 years. We have only barely begun to feel the repercussions; I suspect we will regret it dearly.

Here's a tip for all press photographers from one content creator to another: when you're photographing these thugs, attach an action cam to your cold shoe (i.e. the top of the camera); you need video of their atrocities too.
