You wouldn't feel guilty about running from a bear and denying them the choice to eat you. So don't feel guilty about running from a family member and denying them the choice to abuse you. Going "no contact" is hard, but you have every right to safeguard your wellbeing from those who can't.

I get that we should listen to doctors over online misinformation, but... 1) I've watched doctors and nurses look up my symptoms on the internet during an exam. 2) I've corrected doctors and nurses with information I learned online (e.g., side effects, black box warnings). They aren't gods.

I bet you cannot guess my all-time favorite Marvel or DC hero! (Hint: It's not Superman.) If you've ever seen a real hero and wondered why you were so deeply moved, this article explains why. We all face the same choices as the people in our hero stories. open.substack.com/pub/secondha...

The "moral" code at the center of US politics and economics is survival of the fittest, where the strong eat the weak. The best evidence for this is all the times we reward or forgive abusers and punish or abandon their victims. It's the moral code that has to change.

I'm having one of the worst ME/CFS flare ups not because I'm 100% incapacitated but because I'm 90% incapacitated. That 10% is taunting me. #mecfs #neis #neisvoid #chronicillness

I've said it before and I'll say it again... Medical Advocate should be a common job, and every American should have one. We need an advocate when we're trying to get a diagnosis or find the right treatment. To navigate a broken system. Or the moment we enter a hospital. #chronicillness

Artemis from my backyard. It's strange to see them flying to the moon when basic healthcare is still out of reach.

Life is like a bowl of frozen cherries from Walmart still cold after two minutes in the microwave.
