Achievement unlocked: attended a toddler playgroup with more dads than mums present

Now that the US is sadly no longer a reliable partner for Europe, there is a dilemma for how Europe should respond. We can say Europe must become self-sufficient and no longer depend on the US for anything important – but it risks becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy if Europe stops trusting the US.

On the bright side, at least Brexit is no longer the stupidest and most pointless act of economic self-harm of the century

At long last, @chris.blue and I have submitted the final manuscript of Designing Data-Intensive Applications, second edition, to the publisher. There is always more that could be improved but at some point we just have to call it done. Now it goes into production; probably shipping in ~4 months.
