Still trying to understand the Hyundai ICE raid. Supposedly a months-long investigation that... picked up people here on visas, permanent residents, and U.S. citizens? I also haven't seen anyone charged under 8 USC 搂1324a for hiring undocumented employees. 馃 www.nytimes.com/2025/09/07/u...

The raid swept up 475 people, most of them South Korean citizens, agents said.

No Hyundai employees were arrested, the carmaker said. LG Energy Solution, the battery manufacturer, said 47 of its employees were detained.

A majority of the arrested South Korean workers were not direct employees of Hyundai or LG but were subcontractors, according to industry officials familiar with the project. The LG employees arrested were helping oversee the factory鈥檚 construction, and had arrived in the United States with visas or under a visa waiver program, the officials said.

Steven Schrank, a special agent in charge of Homeland Security Investigations for Georgia, said during a news conference that some U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents were also detained in the raid and would be released.

Kavanaugh's statements make the problem worse, not better. If the reason SCOTUS is using cryptic shadow docket orders is because "five" of them can't "reach a consensus or a compromise on a particular issue that might be difficult," then that order should not be precedential 鈥攖here's no majority.

To put this into context, the judicial warrant for the search at the Hyundai plant named just four people. Relying on that warrant, ICE detained nearly 500 people. DHS admitted that included U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and people lawfully here on visas.

The Sequences (essays by Eliezer Yudkowsky) prove the value of a humanities education. If you have one, you read them and think stuff like "this is a bad retread of logical positivism & general semantics" and "eh, you stole this idea from Le Guin; hers was better." If you don't, you join a cult.

None of these would be valid. No amount of exaggeration about the pardon power can overcome the express mandate to the President in Art II, Sec 3: "He shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed." He can't pardon people for breaking the law on his behalf. Contrary arguments are invalid.

The USPS can't "run out of money," the sole question is the people in charge of the federal government believe delivering mail is worth funding the same way they already fund armed kidnapping gangs, concentration camps, and blowing up girls' schools.

We also instantly validated the entire leadership as heroes who stopped the Great Satan's unprovoked attacks and genocidal threats, the warriors who gave Iran control of the Strait with their steadfast determination and military prowess. It's a crushing defeat on every level. Everything is worse.

Joe Rogan blames "rigid ideology," but that's the only reason he's not just a Democrat. His stated policy beliefs lean Dem: free healthcare, free education, pro-choice, path to citizenship. But his rigid ideology prioritizes science denial (climate, vaccine) and bigotry (transgender athletes).

I don't want to import apartheidists and frankly the next Dem President should send them all back. They are not actually refugees in danger of political prosecution. Our reputation for sheltering refugees is already shattered anyway, we don't need to pretend it's principled to keep them here.

Whew. Long day at work but I'm pretty happy with the statement my client, who I will call MT, gave to the media. Sure seemed like the right time to do it, and I think it will quiet all the rumors going around. Now it's time to take a big sip of water and open up social media.

Columbia suspended, expelled, and retroactively revoked degrees in proceedings that were so arbitrary and capricious they were overturned by a NY state judge. Literally the only evidence Columbia submitted came from sealed records of dismissed arrests鈥攔ecords that Columbia shouldn't have even had.

As the comments point out, the only thing off is "US soldiers refuse orders to kill ISIS families." Nope, the military complied with orders to blow up civilian boats and a girls' school, and stood ready to carry out orders of "a whole civilization will die tonight."
