Thank you! At an event last night I said "If the word hope doesn't work for you try, 'Never fucking surrender.'" The word hope seems too sunny to a lot of people, but the heart of it as I'm interested in it is: we make the future in the present, if we show up, and that never surrender part.

They were only defeated when their resilience was stolen from them by clichés, by the invisibility of what they accomplished that extraordinary morning, and by the word "terrorism"..

People who continue to pursue a technology under these circumstances are either massive liars or truly believe this and are persisting anyway, and either way they are rotten people who should be removed from all forms of power and access.

It's great that there's new information about the dangerous air in lower Manhattan after 9/11, covered up by Giuliani and the Bush Admin. But we knew about the dangers and the lies long ago. I published this in 2009:

Is this Mamdani's sidelong way of pointing out that it was Giuliani who should not be at the 9/11 commemoration, because he endangered New Yorkers multiple ways? Beforehand by situating his terrorism response center in the WTC, after by lying about the dangerous air quality.

I think I noted during the recent Belfast riots that a certain kind of man is not really interested in protecting women & girls; he's interested in protecting the exclusive right of his kind of man to abuse and control women and girls.

Haven't people been talking about a just transition since before Paris/2015? Weird to see it presented like this is some new thing that hasn't been addressed yet. (Of course o.p. is right that fossil fuels leads to its own trouble, including climate catastrophe and global instability.)

The Black Death killed a third of Europe; I guess MAGA would like a USA depopulation event on that scale, but hasn't really thought about the practical realities (clearly, since Trump makes this country weaker in so many ways)?
