The GOP nominee in a Virginia state House race this fall has dropped out. He says he lost his government contracting job and has no income, so he's had to take a job out of state & move away. That's... literally what Dems are campaigning on to win VA. www.princewilliamtimes.com/news/gop-nom...

Stone, 45, said he lost his government contracting job abruptly in July and had been hoping to find another position in the Washington, D.C. area. But so far, he has not been able to do so.

"I pressed ahead with the campaign, expecting it to be a short-term issue," Stone said in an email to the Prince William Times. "But now that our family budget is tight due to no income, I have to do what's best for my family and take the job I'm offered."

JUST IN: Democrats have won the congressional special election in northern Virginia. AP just called the blue district for James Walkinshaw, who'll replace Democrat Gerry Connolly, who passed away this spring. (Final margin to come, but Walkinshaw up huge so far.)

The White House is so committed to punishing the Indiana Republicans who voted against gerrymandering in December that they’re spending time to pressure an unknown state senate candidate to drop out to not divide the anti-incumbent vote.

“Jonathan Caravello, 38, faced up to 20 years in prison if he was convicted of the charge. The verdict is the latest blow to the Trump administration, which has thrown baseless assault charges at people who protest its mass deportation operations — but has repeatedly failed to secure convictions.”

A big deal in Arizona: The utility board that runs energy-related policy in the Phoenix region has flipped to a 'clean energy' slate that was running against a conservative slate. TPUSA invested very heavily in this. This was among my elections to watch: boltsmag.org/whats-on-the...

women in Pennsylvania prisons were celebrating a decision by the state supreme court last week: "The decision brings a renewed vision of how life could look outside." boltsmag.org/pennsylvania...

Terri Harper, who is one of the women serving life without parole for felony murder at Muncy and has been imprisoned since 1991, says she first learned of the court’s decision during her daily call to a friend who received clemency and has been released.

“I still don’t know if there are enough words in all of creation to express the joy and level of HOPE I/we feel right now,” she wrote to Bolts. “The decision brings a renewed vision of how life could look outside, which is sorely needed, given the unrest and discontent in our country.”
