I understand why people are skeptical, but you do not have to think the robots might or are going to commit omnicide to understand that, as @willknight.bsky.social explains, researchers really do actually believe this—something that has consequences even if they’re delusional.

Feeling a lot of existential dread around the odds that the machines kill everyone (or facilitate the killing of everyone) not being zero; on the other hand, Whole Foods now has a peanut butter grinder where there are chocolate chips mixed in with the peanuts and I can’t stop thinking about it.
