Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, the Department of Homeland Security agency given an unprecedented $170 billion under the Trump administration's "big beautiful bill" and charged with carrying out mass deportations, will soon have another powerful tool at its disposal: spyware. The Trump administration this week rescinded a Biden administration order that blocked the ICE from obtaining hacking tools sold by Paragon, the Israeli firm with which it signed a S2 million contract last September. Now ICE will have access to the company's spyware, including tools for remotely breaking into phones and obtaining their contents and messages. Paragon has been compared to the more notorious Israeli spyware firm NSO Group, with similar examples of its tools being used to spy on journalists and activists: WhatsApp said earlier this year that it had discovered Paragon's spyware being used against activists and journalists in Europe, and two Italian media outlets filed a criminal complaint with prosecutors seeking an investigation into the hacking incidents. As a result of that blowup, Italian intelligence services canceled a contract with the company, according to Israeli news outlet Haaretz. wired.com

We are allowing foreign troll accounts to radicalize the American people. Congress needs to regulate against AI and social media. The people have a right to know who, or what, is in their social media feeds. They aren’t even safe from the type of radicalism that is happening online.

Labor unions can embody socialist principles to some extent, as they shift some power from capital owners to workers and can foster class consciousness and solidarity that support political struggles towards socialism. Historically, socialist movements have viewed unions as important organizations to build working-class power and to challenge capitalist dominance, but unions also operate within capitalism and often focus on reform rather than revolution. Thus, unions may be seen as reformist tools within capitalism with socialist roots or ambitions, but they are not strictly socialist organizations themselves unless explicitly aligned with socialist political goals. marxists +3 Capitalism, in contrast, promotes private ownership and free markets that stand opposed to socialism's collective ownership and redistribution goals. Unions sometimes represent worker interests within capitalism but do not inherently abolish capitalism unless they pursue socialist revolution.

The fascist 86 knew exactly what they were doing. Capitalism without socialism is how you get fascism. The dirty 8 knew exactly what they were doing. Look at their voting record. Look at their campaign donors.

Socialism is not explicitly mentioned in the United States Constitution. The Constitution does not refer to socialism or capitalism by name. Instead, it establishes a framework for government powers and individual rights without committing to any particular economic system. Some interpret certain constitutional provisions, such as Congress's power to promote the general welfare and regulate commerce, as enabling policies that could be seen as having "socialist" characteristics. For example, government involvement in economic regulation, social programs, and redistribution is allowed and has been exercised within constitutional limits. However, the Constitution explicitly protects private property and contracts, which aligns more with liberal democracy and private enterprise rather than a Marxist or socialist revolution abolishing private property. Historic and contemporary commentary suggests the Constitution was designed to accommodate diverse economic views and to balance individual rights with government powers but does not explicitly endorse socialism as an ideology. Has anyone thought about the difficult position the Military is in and how they are at risk of real harm for disobeying unlawful orders? Financially, physically, mentally. Wouldn’t it be a lot stronger of a message to them if the Democratic Veterans actually stood against tyranny by impeaching?
